In most cases, travelers will need a Visitor Visa to gain entry to Canada, although nationals of certain countries may be eligible for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), while others are completely exempt and can enter Canada with their passports without the need for a visa. To qualify for a Canada Tourist Visa, applicants must meet specific criteria. These requirements determine an individual’s eligibility to apply for and hold the visa.

The Canadian Consulate makes a case-by-case decision regarding the duration for which the Tourist Visa will be granted.  The decision is contingent upon the Consulate’s assessment of the applicant’s intention to return to their home country.
